Good News of Great Joy

Luke 2:10

10 Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people

SERMON NOTES

“Joy is distinctly a Christian word and a Christian thing. It is the reverse of   happiness. Happiness is the result of what happens of an agreeable sort. Joy has its springs deep down inside. And that spring never runs dry, no matter what happens. Only Jesus gives that joy. He had joy, singing its music within, even under the shadow of the cross.”   “Joy is distinctly a Christian word and a Christian thing. It is the reverse of   happiness. • The Psalmist David wrote, (Psalm 16:11)“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
  • The question is, “Do I experience joy in my life or do I go from one ‘happy    experience’ to another in an effort to move along through life?
  • More than 190 times (NKJV) we find the word ‘joy’ throughout scripture.    Matthew 7:11 reminds us that our Heavenly Father gives good things to those who ask Him.
