Loving & Reaching the Lost

Matthew 22:37-40

37 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”

Matthew 28:16-20

The Great Commission

16 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17 And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted.18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Romans 10:14-15

14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard?[a] And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”

Sermon Notes

  • Reaching the lost is a command given by Jesus to all who calls Him Lord (....go and make disciples of all nations. Matt. 28:19). Loving and reaching the lost by making Jesus famous is a privilege that every follower of Jesus must do with great joy as we pave the return of Jesus (And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. Matthew 24:14). It’s a task that can only be done by His children with the help and guidance of the Holy Spirit (“he [Holy Spirit] will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment” John 16:7-11).

  • “Therefore, every believer is called to evangelize --- to bear the Good News of God’s saving love to the lost world. To let the whole world know that Jesus is the Good News that everybody ought to know and to make Jesus famous!

  • The greatest commandment is to love God with all that we are and have --- heart, soul, mind, strength, possessions and service (Matthew 22:37)

  • Love your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:39)

  • Where there is love, there will be service and obedience.

FUTURE DEVELOPMENT UPDATE
As you can appreciate, this year has been challenging for those whose occupations (and vacations) are affected by the weather. This past week has been fairly quiet on our site as our contractor focused on some other contract obligations, however the installation of underground services will recommence next week and hopefully the major portions be completed early in September.

That said, there continues to be less visible work continuing as we prepare for the next stage of the Phase 1 project. Some of this is focused on planning as we drive toward a finalized building plan, as well as construction activities for the connection of services within the building. Please check out the weekly Construction Update on the Foyer display while your are dropping your pledge in the slot. You will also find there, from time-to-time, a posting for help required on the project, which this week is for one or two gas pipe fitters who can offer some hours to reconfigure our gas lines on the roof before we switch from air conditioning to heating mode of operation.

Thank you for your prayers and encouragement
