Works of Faith, Labour of Love and Steadfast Hope

1 Thessalonians 1:2-5

The Thessalonians' Faith and Example

We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers, remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction. You know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake.

Sermon Notes

  • Paul gives thanks for the new believers of Thessalonica. How do we make sure that we do not take each other for granted? How do we maintain a thankful heart for the body of Christ?

  • How can we foster in our fellowship “work(s) of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ” vs 3 ?

  • What does election (being chosen) vs 4 mean to you? How does it give you confidence in our day?
