REACH THE LOST - "HELL WILL NOT STAND"

The Great Commission

16 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17 And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted.18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”                                                                                -Matthew 28:16-20

SERMON NOTES

"The Great Commission is not an option to be considered; it is a command to be obeyed"
-Hudson Taylor (Missionary to China)

"God uses men who are weak and feeble enough to lean on him."
- Hudson Taylor (Missionary to China)

"Sympathy is no substitute for action."
- David Livingstone (African Missionary)

"The Christian is not obedient unless he is doing all in his power to send the Gospel to the heathen world." -A. B. Simpson (Found of CMA)

  • The Gospel ends with Jesus’ call to all disciples to go into all the world. How do you see yourself obeying Jesus’ call to go?
  • Jesus calls us to make disciples, what does it mean to make disciples? How can we best make disciples of all people? Who is the most effective person that you know at making disciples and why?
  • Jesus emphasizes baptism in the passage. Why is baptism so important? What is baptism? Have you ever been baptized, if not what is stopping you?
  • The promise of the presence of Jesus is what wraps up the text. Why?

  • Scriptures to Consider
    1. Acts 1:8
    2. Acts 13:47
