Jonah 3:1-5
Jonah Goes to Nineveh
3 Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time: 2 “Go to the great city of Nineveh and proclaim to it the message I give you.”
3 Jonah obeyed the word of the Lord and went to Nineveh. Now Nineveh was a very large city; it took three days to go through it. 4 Jonah began by going a day’s journey into the city, proclaiming, “Forty more days and Nineveh will be overthrown.” 5 The Ninevites believed God. A fast was proclaimed, and all of them, from the greatest to the least, put on sackcloth.
SERMON NOTES
Life is not full of second chances. When we fail or do the wrong thing, Usually it is too late to take it back. When God’s grace provides a second chance, how do we respond?
- In true repentance? ( a desire to turn from sin)- Nineveh
- “I guess I have to” repentance? (following God out of a sense of trapped duty)- Jonah
If God told you that you had 40 days until you were overturned. What would YOU DO?
- Accept your consequences and live life to the full
- Or turn yourself to God, repent, renew your heart, and give your life completely to him regardless of your consequences
Nineveh was an evil city that only threatened God’s people. God still chose to forgive and spare them.

Praise God, there are 260 kids registered, however, we still need 35 volunteers to run VBS this year. What do we need?
Crew leaders:
Minimum of 1 adult in preschool
Minimum of 4 teens in preschool
Minimum of 14 adults in elementary
Minimum of 15 teens in elementary
Minimum of 3 adults in Nursery

CELEBRATION SUNDAY Aug 19 - Family BBQ to follow the 10am service. If your last name starts with A - M please bring a large salad to share and if your last name starts with N - Z please bring a large dessert to share. This event is for the whole church family.
