GOODBYE AND HELLO

We stand here at the threshold of another year and wonder what it will behold.

We say “Good bye!” to 2020 and say “Hello!” to the New Year 2021.

I invite you to slowly read (with time for consideration and meditation) Luke 2:8 – 19.

Most of us, or may I safely assume, none of us, have had an experience quite like those shepherds did on that night like no other as they cared for their sheep on that Bethlehem hillside.  They had a vital role to care for the flocks whose offspring would be the chosen lambs for the twice-daily sacrifices at the temple. [I invite you to read all about that in Exodus 29:38-46.]

The message of the angel set about to communicate three things:

  1. “Do not be afraid.”
  2. “I bring you good tidings of great joy.”
  3. “This is a message for all people.”

Their proclamation carried three powerful messages.  First, move past a circumstance of fearful paralysis, to second, hear the message that is being proclaimed by the Lord of hosts through His servant to each one of us and, finally go forth and share this Good News – the Message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ - with others.

Many times, throughout scripture, the messenger of God opened his conversation with the same words…. “Fear not!”  or “Do not be afraid!

As my opening line stated, we ‘wonder what a new year will hold’.

May we move forward in resolute confidence that our Heavenly Father is still in control and we can fully trust in Him in ALL our circumstances.

Two things we can do:

1.  From a Bible concordance, look up, read and meditate on every verse that contains the word ‘TRUST”.
2.  Check out these three verses:

Psalm 5:11

Psalm 37:5

Isaiah 12:2
