Heaven

1 Corinthians 2:9

But as it is written:

“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

Sermon Notes

Everyone wants to go to heaven someday. After all, doesn’t eternal life with God sound like a pretty good idea?

But where is heaven?  Where is this eternal place where God dwells? What does it look like? What do people there look like?  Will people eat?  Will people know each other?  Will we be joined together with family members who have gone on before us?  Will we have homes?  What will heaven be like?  Can we even know anything about heaven?  Do we become angels when we arrive in heaven?  Are the streets there really made of gold?  Do people actually sit on clouds playing harps?  Will we have perfect bodies?  Will we be free from all struggles, strife and sickness forever?  Will we just be singing all this time?

Some 600 verses in the Bible speak, either directly or indirectly, about heaven.  Jesus himself spoke much about heaven.  He knew what He was talking about.  After all, heaven was His home.  His tenure on earth was just a short approximately three years.  He came to earth to live among men, to die and be resurrected to life forever making the way, providing the way, for us to have eternal life with Him.
