HAPPY THANKSGIVING

This Sunday falls on the Thanksgiving Weekend and it is also Communion Sunday. How appropriate. Another name for Communion is Eucharist, a transliteration of the Greek word for Thanksgiving. In the Eucharist we are:

Thankful for what Jesus accomplished through His sacrifice

Thankful for what the Holy Spirit accomplishes in us because of His sacrifice

Thankful for what the Father will accomplish in greeting us in Heaven because of His sacrifice

In preparation for Sunday consider reading: Psalm 118 and I Thessalonians 5:18.

Also reflect on what you are thankful for in your Christian walk as sharing will be a part of the service.

WORLD CAFE - Wednesday October 13, at 7:00pm   What is a “World Cafe”? A World Cafe is an invitation to all who want to sit down with a cup of coffee/water and enter into a conversation about the future of Spruce Grove Alliance Church. The evening will consist of guided conversations around specific questions at different tables that will change every 10 minutes to provide a variety of people/perspectives.  We will pursue how we become the hands and feet of Jesus, the values of SGAC and our mission in response to God’s calling. If you are a part of SGAC and are 14 years old or older, you are invited to join us for a dynamic evening of conversation on topics of significance in the future of SGAC.

Join Pastor Steve as he hosts the THINKING SERIES  Thursdays starting at 7:00 pm until October 28. This week’s topic: Do All Religions Lead to God?  Are we all pilgrims climbing a spiritual mountain to the same summit?  Many people think so.  "Religions," it is said, "are different on the surface but fundamentally the same."  Is religion merely a private choice, or is there more to it than that? This is a great opportunity to explore life’s deep questions with friends and family. Bring your own questions, too!

WOMEN AS ELDERS PANEL DISCUSSION  - Sunday October 17 at 2:00 pm
We have 4 great panelists that will share some of how they wrestled through various scriptures  to come to their perspective.  The afternoon will not be a debate but will provide an opportunity to increase understanding of the issues, the impact on their life and the life of their church and guide us in how we can progress through this decision making process in a way that brings glory to our God.  Panelists include Josie Vance (Previous Pastor: SGAC and Beulah, Leader), Paul Polonenko (Pastor and Chaplain at the Edmonton Institution), Sharon Neufeld (Bible School Teacher and Leader) Al Andrus (Lead Pastor; Heartland Alliance).  There will be a time for Q&A.  Plan to join us for this key panel discussion!

YOUNG ADULTS RETREAT Join us for a weekend of worshipping the Lord, sharing the Word and building community.  Retreat will run Friday, October 22 to Sunday, October 24.  Registration is $150.00 per person and will close Tuesday, October 19.  Click HERE to register today.

DEEPER LIFE SCHOOL OF THEOLOGY October 21-23  Biblical Approach to the Wounded Human Spirit  Are you interested in counselling or need some healing yourself?  Join us Thursday, October 21 for learning how God restores a wounded spirit.  Register today with Pastor Coreen

We handed out 200 home made meals (Grace’s Table) on Friday October 8 to those in need.  This is a local outreach that can only be done through your generosity.   We Thank You for your continued giving towards the General Fund and to the Benevolent Fund.
