Dear Dad

Happy Father’s Day.  Dads out there, you and I have a very special honor and along with honor comes the wonderful ‘task’ of caring for those special people in our care.

Someone once said, ”The kindest thing you can do for your children is to love their mother and make sure they know that you do.”

According to Google….

“The idea of a special day to honor fathers and celebrate fatherhood was introduced from the United States. A woman called Sonora Smart Dodd was inspired by the American Mother's Day celebrations and planned a day to honor fathers early in the 20th century. The first Father's Day was celebrated in Spokane, Washington on June 19, 1910. Father’s Day has become increasingly popular throughout North America and other parts of the world over the years. “

Someone wrote: “Growing up under the eyes of a caring dad can be the         greatest gift anyone can cherish. Your dad is someone who can         stand as a symbol of inspiration for your entire life. It is your father         from whom many draw their strength from. He can be the strongest         pillar in your life.

Expressing “Happy Father’s Day” wishes to your Dad communicates the appreciation and gratefulness for all that he has done in your life to date. And, it also speaks to the admiration for the on-going relationship you two share today.

Scripture has some excellent things to say to fathers.  It starts out by addressing the role of the husband then carries on to encourage fathers.

Proverbs 23:24: "The father of a righteous child has great joy; a man who fathers a wise son rejoices in him."
