FIRST ADVENT SUNDAY – HOPE

Advent means 'coming' in Latin.  During the four Sundays and weeks of Advent we prepare our hearts for Christmas.

Hope is joyful anticipation. We celebrate and remember the joy of Jesus the Messiah coming.  We continue to have hope because of all that the gospel entails and because He is coming again!

Isaiah 11

Revelation 21:1-5

1 Corinthians 15

Bible Reading “Hack” (If you don’t know how to read Greek to better understand what you’re reading in your English translation of your Bible)

When you read “kingdom of God” or “kingdom of heaven” read it as “God’s reign of justice and peace and life”.  The “kingdom of God” is about God’s reign as rightful ruler over all creation, bringing justice and peace for all people and flourishing life for all things.   (Pastor and blogger Michael Pahl)

Prayer to begin each day this week: “Jesus how do I partner with you to bring hope to the world, to build for your kingdom – for your glory, your reign of justice, and peace and life today?”
