The Power of Prayer

As Pastor Brent begins his time with us, he is starting with a series called “First Things First.” For the first 5 Sundays he is going to share 5 things that he is passionate about as a pastor and a follower of Jesus. You are going to hear him reiterate these things over and over in the years ahead.

Today we are on week 2 of this series as we discuss “The Power of Prayer” We are going to study Daniel 10 as we learn what it means to be a people of prayer consumed with the pursuit of God.

ARE YOU NEW TO SGAC? We want to help you get connected. GRACE’S TABLE: We all go through tough times. If a meal would be helpful for you or someone you know, Grace’s Table would love to help out. Meal pick-up is Friday Sept. 9 from 5 - 6:30 pm at SGAC. Go to events registration on our website to register or call the church office. Registration deadline is Monday, Sept. 5.

AWANA: We are starting this Wednesday, September 7 and will run through until the end of April. Go to events registration on our website to register today! If you would like to help at AWANA this year please contact Kari.

ADULT GROWTH GROUPS KICK OFF: Sunday, September 11: Join us for the exciting launch of our fall Growth Groups. Get a first look at the catalogue with over 15 groups to choose from. There will be an opportunity to meet the facilitators & sign up. Food trucks will be onsite after both services. Plan to stay & get connected! YOUTH PARENT’S MEETING: NEW DATE & TIME! The fall is coming and so are our Tuesday evening Bible Studies and Friday night events. Join Pastor Josh to hear what he has for your youth this fall. Sunday, September 11 at 1:30 pm in the Fireside Room, following the Growth Groups Kick off.

YOUTH BONFIRES: Youth, we are back! Join us on September 16 for bonfires at hosting acreages. Check the website calendar for Jr High and Sr High locations.

 KEENAGERS KICK OFF (Seniors 55+): Wednesday, September 14 at 9:30 am. Come for a time of prayer & connecting with other seniors. Get more information on the fall study (starting Sept 21) and hear from Pastor Joel & the Lead Team about upcoming plans for SGAC seniors.

GRIEF SHARE: Starts Wednesday, Sept 14 at 7:00 pm. This 14 week grief support group offers help & encouragement after the death of a loved one & is open to anyone in the Parkland County area. Go to our website for more information & to register. The cost of the workbook is $25.

AGM 2022: Sunday, September 18 at 2:00 pm. This meeting is open to everyone who attends SGAC, only members are able to vote. There will be an online option for those unable to attend in person. Watch for a Zoom link in the coming weeks. The Annual Report is now available in the church or online.

FAITH ON FIRE - A Night in Worship: Following the AGM, and a time of rest, come for a night of worship to our King on Sunday, September 18 at 7 pm.

DEEPER LIFE SCHOOL of THEOLOGY: Our in person and online Bible school is starts Sept. 22 – 24 with Questions of Faith with Dr. Ian Bond. This Philosophy of Religion explores questions like: Does God exist? If God is good why does he allow suffering? Is there life after death? See Pastor
Coreen after the service to register or ask questions. Earn your degree or study the Bible more thoroughly for yourself.

Giving Update

Please note the following options for giving: 

ONLINE GIVING
Whether it is a one-time gift or you would like to schedule a recurring donation, you can  give online to Spruce Grove Alliance Church.  This option allows you to give using a Visa debit card or the traditional Visa or MasterCard credit cards. 

PRE-AUTHORIZED GIVING
Pick up a pre-authorized debit agreement form from our church office or download one here. You can fill it out and then with a voided cheque - you can either scan it and email it to the office, or drop it off during regular office hours. 

INTERAC/DEBIT
During office hours, you can drop by and use the INTERAC/DEBIT machine at the Welcome Centre, then fill out your donation envelope as normal including your name, address, giving number and insert your debit receipt so we can disburse funds as directed in the Box on the counter. 

E-TRANSFER
Use E-Transfer to give at SGAC, using give@sgac.net.  Please include your offering envelope number and contact information.  In the notes section please indicate how you would like your donation designated, ie. General Fund, Canadian Ministries etc.. The money is deposited directly into the church account and does not require a security question.  (This method of giving is not to be used for registrations.) 

IN PERSON
During office hours, you can stop by the church office and drop off your donation in a sealed envelope.  Mark it Finance / Confidential

Jon & Angie Coutts live in Calgary where Jon is the Assistant Professor of Christian Theology at Ambrose University. Angie’s parents attend SGAC.

Our Pastoral Team Staff Member: Pastor of Children’s Ministries - Pastor Coreen Frey. Coreen is married to Dave and they have three married children.

Our Support Staff Team Member: Kari Gehlert. Kari is married to Lorne and they have five children.

Our Elders Team Member: Kenton Breitkreuz. Kenton is married to Laurie and they have two adult children.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD SHOE BOXES: Our boxes will be here soon. Please consider purchasing extra school supplies for the shoe box project. Deadline is November 13.
