Exhort, Encourage & Charge

1 Thessalonians 2:7-12

But we were gentle[a] among you, like a nursing mother taking care of her own children. So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us.

For you remember, brothers, our labor and toil: we worked night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you, while we proclaimed to you the gospel of God. 10 You are witnesses, and God also, how holy and righteous and blameless was our conduct toward you believers. 11 For you know how, like a father with his children, 12 we exhorted each one of you and encouraged you and charged you to walk in a manner worthy of God, who calls you into his own kingdom and glory.

Sermon Notes

“In all of my years of service to my Lord, I have discovered a truth that has never failed and has never been compromised. That truth is that it is beyond the realm of possibilities that one has the ability to out give God. Even if I give the whole of my worth to Him, He will find a way to give back to me much more than I gave."

Charles Spurgeon

In verses 7-12 Paul uses the analogy of a Mother and Father.

  • What are characteristics of a good Mother and Father?
  • How do those characteristics play into caring for people in the right way?
  • Have you ever experienced this with people in a Christian ministry?

Refugee Cup Campaign and Giving Tree
Thank you so much to everyone who took a cup and an item off the Thanksgiving Tree for the Ranjbar family. Our team was overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity! We still have a few tags left that are mainly winter clothing items. If you are able to help with any outerwear for a 1 year old girl, an 8 year old girl or size S/M, or M/L for Shafiq and Frozan, please talk to Natalie Boldt, Pastor Joel or someone else from the team. Please have all cups returned to the office by Sunday, October 27th and all household items to the church by Dec. 1.

As we anticipate the arrival of our refugee family – The Ranjbars – in the next few months, the board is considering a transfer of $10,000 out of the Benevolent Fund and into the Refugee Fund. The Benevolent Fund as of September 30th is at $21,488.60. We are confident that after this transfer there remains sufficient funds to help with benevolent needs of our church and community. And we believe that helping this new refugee family is in fact an act of benevolence. Thank you for your continued generous giving to the Benevolent Fund. It is through your giving that we are able to help those in need.

Future Development Faith Promise Pledge Forms are now located in the chair pockets for your convenience. Please drop off your completed forms in the foyer display. Thank you for prayerfully considering how you can financially support our new Education Building. For more information visit us online or email us!
