Stay Ready!

Luke 12:36-41

36 and be like men who are waiting for their master to come home from the wedding feast, so that they may open the door to him at once when he comes and knocks. 37 Blessed are those servants[a] whom the master finds awake when he comes. Truly, I say to you, he will dress himself for service and have them recline at table, and he will come and serve them. 38 If he comes in the second watch, or in the third, and finds them awake, blessed are those servants! 39 But know this, that if the master of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he[b] would not have left his house to be broken into. 40 You also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”

41 Peter said, “Lord, are you telling this parable for us or for all?”

Sermon Notes

Let us be alert to the season in which we are living. It is the season of the Blessed Hope, calling for us to cut our ties with the world and build ourselves on this One who will soon appear. He is our hope—a Blessed Hope enabling us to rise above our times and fix our gaze upon Him.

-A.W Tozer

  • What can we do to stay ready?
  • Why is Jesus so strong (Luke 12:47) with the one who know the Master will and did not get ready?
  • How can we take the following verse to heart?  “Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more.” Luke 12:48

Scriptures to Consider

  1. 1 Timothy 1:12-17

Get ready for Giving Sunday! On Sunday, March 29 we are targeting our $4 million goal in cash and pledges. We are less than $500,000 away! Our Christian Education Centre will allow us to expand our ministry work to meet both current and future needs by building dedicated space for children’s, youth, small group and auditorium style activities. Our current space is in desperate need of renovations to be safe and sustainable; not meeting our current ministry needs; and limiting our ability to expand our programs and the support we provide to the communities we serve.
Consider making a one-time gift on Giving Sunday, in support of the future of Spruce Grove Alliance. Or join us in support of this project and make your commitment to a future gift.
