FULLY ENGAGED

Matthew 4: 18-22

18 While walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. 19 And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” 20 Immediately they left their nets and followed him. 21 And going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and he called them. 22 Immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.

SERMON NOTES

“When we come to Christ, we’re no longer the most important person in the world to us; Christ is. Instead of living only for ourselves, we have a higher goal: to live for Jesus.”
Billy Graham

  • Why is it so important to understand that following Jesus begins from an invitation not a command?
  • Jesus’s call interrupted Peter and Andrew during their busy work day. Does Jesus have permission in your life to interrupt your schedule?
  • Immediately they followed Jesus. Why is it important to respond to Jesus immediately?  They left everything.  What things distract you from following Jesus?

Scriptures to Consider

  1. - Isaiah 6
  2. - Romans 12
  3. - Philippians 1:21
