SERMON NOTES
Happy Thanksgiving!
Turkey, pumpkin pie with LOTS of whipped cream, family gathered around a big table decorated with orange-leaf-smattered napkins……. Is this what comes to mind when you think of Thanksgiving?
Is there some sort of ‘Let’s go round the table and share something we’re thankful for’ activity that occurs at your thanksgiving event?
Well I’m sure we all experience much of this, but what about something deeper? No I’m not talking about the pumpkin pie, I’m talking about the matter of FULLY ENGAGING in a lifestyle of thankfulness.
I’m sure that bowing your heads before a meal and giving thanks to our Heavenly Father for the food we’re about to enjoy is important in your life, but does thankfulness end there or do you enjoy a LIFESTYLE of thankfulness.
Read Psalms 90 and 91 in the next short while and notice how the Psalmist, although not mentioning the words ‘Thank You’ fills his text with rich expressions of thankfulness.
In the New King James version, the word ‘Thanks’ appears 109 times.

GIVING SUNDAY –OCTOBER 11 - TODAY We are now less than $350,000 away from our goal of raising $4 million in cash and pledges for our new Christian Education Centre. Next week we will have a special offering for our Future Development Fund. Consider how you might partner with us in building a spiritual home for the people of Spruce Grove & Parkland County. PASTORAL DEVOTIONS TO THE CONGREGATION: Join us online Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings for a devotional message from one of our Pastors. We will air these messages on our YouTube Channel at 8:00 am. (Don’t worry, if you miss it, you can watch it later.)
CHILDREN’S MINISTRIES: Grades 1 – 6, join us for Sunday School. We will offer preschool childcare starting on October 18. If you are able please pre-register between Wednesday morning and Saturday evening on the website or by calling the office at 780-962-4700.
KEENAGERS (55+): We are now meeting online to study “The Story of a King”. Join us on Wednesdays at 10:00 am on Pastor Art’s personal Facebook page or at 1:00 pm on our Keenagers Facebook Group as we stay connected through the Word of God.
SHARING HOPE IN CRISIS – Saturday Oct 17: This is a one day seminar presented by the Billy Graham Association of Canada. It is a free event open to anyone in our community, but registration is required. It is suitable for everyone in the local church and is also ideal for counselors, church leaders & those who encounter suffering people on a regular basis. Registration deadline is October 12. OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD Shoeboxes are available at the Welsome Centre. Please consider participating in this program that gives children in third world countries a gift that shows them that Jesus Loves Them. ONLINE GIVING
Whether it is a one-time gift or you would like to schedule a recurring donation, you can give online to Spruce Grove Alliance Church. This option allows you to give using a Visa debit card or the traditional Visa or MasterCard credit cards.
PRE-AUTHORIZED GIVING
Pick up a pre-authorized debit agreement form from our church office or download one here. You can fill it out and then with a voided cheque - you can either scan it and email it to the office, or drop it off during regular office hours.
INTERAC/DEBIT
During office hours, you can drop by and use the INTERAC/DEBIT machine at the Welcome Centre, then fill out your donation envelope as normal including your name, address, giving number and insert your debit receipt so we can disburse funds as directed in the Box on the counter.
E-TRANSFER
Use E-Transfer to give at SGAC, using www.sgac/Give . Please include your offering envelope number and contact information. The money is deposited directly into the church account and does not require a security question. Please also include your envelope # if you have one and your phone number in the note section.
IN PERSON
